The discussion reportedly centered on how the Biden administration might “reset” its approach to crypto policy as President Joe Biden\u2019s term nears its end in January 2025, and as Vice President Kamala Harris gears up for her campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the call, the executives emphasized the need for clearer regulatory guidelines in the digital asset space. They also hinted at their dissatisfaction with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler, whose enforcement actions against crypto firms have been a point of contention within the industry. Many argue that the SEC, under Gensler’s leadership, has not provided a clear legal pathway for crypto companies to operate in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was reportedly organized by California Representative Ro Khanna and included several key policymakers, such as Lael Brainard, the director of the National Economic Council, Bruce Reed, White House deputy chief of staff, and Kristine Lucius, a senior adviser to Vice President Harris. The call follows an in-person roundtable in July, also arranged by Khanna, where Biden’s senior adviser Anita Dunn was present.
