Kaplan said that putting Bankman-Fried in jail might be the best way to stop him from communicating in ways that trick the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bail-conditions-for-bankman-fried\">Bail Conditions for Bankman-Fried<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kaplan has not immediately changed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-released-on-bail-in-the-us\/\">Bankman-Fried\u2019s $250 million bail package<\/a>, which allows him to live with his parents in Palo Alto, California, while preparing for trial on charges of cheating investors and looting customer deposits at FTX. As a result, prosecutors have asked the judge to limit Bankman-Fried\u2019s use of electronic devices and the internet, including banning him from messaging applications and requiring the installation of a device monitoring program on his cellphone and computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bankman-Fried&#8217;s Lawyer Response<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bankman-Fried&#8217;s lawyer, Mark Cohen, called the prosecutors&#8217; proposals &#8220;draconian.&#8221; However, he soon found himself on the defensive as Kaplan noted his client\u2019s apparent bail violations, including accessing an encrypted internet site to watch the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Judge&#8217;s Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kaplan expressed concerns about Bankman-Fried\u2019s apparent bail violations and the possibility that he may have attempted to commit a federal felony while on release. The judge noted that there may be many devices in Bankman-Fried\u2019s family home that the government will not be tracking, even with any new rules imposed on his bail conditions.
