The development highlights growing regulatory openness to digital assets within traditional market infrastructure .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DTCC plays a central role in U.S. markets, handling the clearing and settlement of trillions of dollars in securities. Therefore, its push into tokenization could signal a turning point for how assets move across financial systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-the-tokenization-service-will-work\">How the Tokenization Service Will Work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new service will allow securities held at DTC to be converted into blockchain-based digital tokens. These tokens will represent the same legal ownership and investor protections as traditional securities. However, they will use distributed ledger technology to improve how assets settle and transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key goals of the service include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faster settlement times compared to existing processes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved transparency across ownership records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better liquidity and collateral mobility for institutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, DTCC intends to integrate this system with existing custody and clearing operations. It acquired Securrency in 2023, later rebranding it as DTCC Digital Assets.
