Bitcoin Core 32.0 has entered its final testing phase as developers prepare for a planned Oct. 10 release. The update focuses on transaction fee estimates, block validation performance and several security improvements. It does not change Bitcoin’s consensus rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first release candidate arrived on Sept. 14, marking the start of the final testing cycle. Developers are now testing the software before the expected production release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the main changes adds a fee estimator that tracks transactions currently waiting in the mempool. The existing estimator relies largely on transactions included in recent blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bitcoin Core 32.0 can compare the two approaches and use the lower estimate when both provide reliable data. This could help fees respond faster when network congestion falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The release also improves block validation by allowing transaction data to load from disk in parallel. The default configuration uses eight processing threads for this task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Developers have said the change can reduce delays during blockchain synchronization. It targets one of the areas that can slow nodes as they process large amounts of historical data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Security remains another focus of the release. Developers fixed a vulnerability involving specially crafted wallet names on non-Windows systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issue could affect authenticated users who had permission to create wallets when the node also used the wallet notification feature. The fix prevents wallet names from being interpreted as executable commands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The update also addresses a memory exhaustion issue in Bitcoin Core’s built-in web server. These fixes add another layer of protection for operators running Bitcoin nodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bitcoin Core 32.0 will also make PSBT version 2 the default format for several commands that create partially signed transactions. Applications can continue requesting the older format where needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The changes show how Bitcoin Core continues to improve node performance without altering Bitcoin’s underlying consensus rules. If final testing proceeds as planned, the new release is expected to reach users on Oct. 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
