Each phase has introduced significant advancements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Byron<\/strong>: Implemented the basic blockchain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shelley<\/strong>: Focused on decentralization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Goguen<\/strong>: Introduced smart contracts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Basho<\/strong>: Aimed at scaling the blockchain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Voltaire<\/strong>: Will add governance, voting, and treasury management functionality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Governance and On-Chain Consensus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chang fork, named in honor of Phil Chang, an early leader in Cardano governance who passed away in 2022, will be the first hard fork in the Voltaire era.
