Metallica\u2019s team quickly regained control of the account and deleted all posts related to the token.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">False Claims and Reactions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On June 26, Metallica&#8217;s X account posted about METAL, stating it was launched in collaboration with Ticketmaster. In reality, the token was deployed on the Solana-based platform pump.fun. Ticketmaster did not announce any such partnership and did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further complicating matters, the posts claimed that fintech firm MoonPay was involved with the token. MoonPay president Keith Grossman refuted this in a post, stating, \u201cMoonPay does NOT support METAL.\u201d MoonPay later warned users about the scam with a clever reference to Metallica&#8217;s hit song, &#8220;Master of Puppets,&#8221; saying, \u201cIf someone is offering you a METAL token, they are not the master of puppets \u2014 they\u2019re the master of scams!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post.jpeg\" class=\"td-modal-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"506\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post.jpeg 506w, https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post-253x300.jpeg 253w, https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post-150x178.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.cryptometer.io\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/x-post-300x356.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/figure><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fraudulent Promises and Token Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fraudulent posts also claimed that holders of METAL tokens could redeem them for exclusive items such as concert tickets, custom gaming consoles, and merchandise. One post even suggested that the token would offer staking rewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The METAL token briefly surged to a total value of $3.37 million, according to Dexscreener data. However, less than three hours later, its market capitalization plummeted to $90,000, marking a drop of over 97% from its peak value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It remains unclear how the hackers breached Metallica\u2019s X account.
