Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Association of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria, he emphasized that crypto usage is driven by its inherent freedom, likening it to air that cannot be contained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regulatory Stance and Warnings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite acknowledging the popularity of cryptocurrencies\u2014citing a study that claims one-third of Nigerians use them\u2014Agama stressed that the SEC will continue to caution the public about the potential risks of crypto investments. Similarly, Bello Hassan, Managing Director of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, urged the SEC to provide clear information about the risks associated with crypto trading, ensuring that users make informed decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Future of Crypto Regulation in Nigeria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking ahead, the Nigerian SEC aims to develop a comprehensive regulatory framework that balances innovation with investor protection.
