Binance expands rewards with Plasma integration
Binance has confirmed that Plasma (XPL) will be included in its HODLer airdrop program ahead of its September 25, 2025 launch. The move comes as Plasma prepares to roll out its mainnet beta and token generation event. By tying into Binance Earn, this initiative aims to drive early participation while strengthening liquidity before XPL’s debut on the spot market.
Binance’s move to include Plasma (XPL) in its HODLer airdrop comes just days before the token’s confirmed spot market debut on September 25, 2025. By combining daily USDT yield with XPL rewards, the program not only drives early participation but also positions Binance ahead of competing exchanges that may seek to list the token after launch.
How the Plasma airdrop works
The airdrop is linked to Binance’s Plasma USDT Locked Product, part of its On-Chain Yields lineup. Users who lock USDT into this product receive:
- Daily returns in USDT.
- Proportional distributions of XPL after the token generation event.
Binance determines allocations through daily balance snapshots, distributing tokens based on user contributions relative to the total pool. The initial $250 million subscription cap filled in less than an hour, reflecting strong demand among early participants.
A total of 100 million XPL about 1% of the token’s supply has been reserved for airdrops through Binance. Smaller depositors who verified accounts via Echo’s Sonar tool and members of the Stablecoin Collective community will also receive allocations. U.S. participants will face a delayed distribution, scheduled for 2026, due to regulatory requirements.
Plasma’s launch strategy and tokenomics
Plasma’s mainnet beta will launch on September 25 at 8:00 AM ET with $2 billion in stablecoin liquidity deployed across more than 100 DeFi protocols. The project aims to rank among the top blockchains by stablecoin value from the first day of operation.
The airdrop strategy supports Plasma’s goal of creating a more distributed ownership base while securing liquidity. By combining yield in USDT with potential upside from XPL, the project has quickly attracted users and capital.
Market implications and risks
This approach creates a strong incentive for participation, but it also introduces risks:
- High volatility around the listing due to speculative trading.
- No assurance of a long-term Binance listing, despite the airdrop.
- Regulatory uncertainty, particularly in the United States, where distribution is delayed.
For Binance, the program strengthens its bridge between centralized and on-chain finance. For Plasma, it lays the groundwork for liquidity and adoption at launch. Still, investors should remain cautious of short-term hype and evolving regulatory pressures.
