Binance FZE Secures VASP License in Dubai

Published:

Binance FZE, the Dubai-based subsidiary of the global cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has achieved a significant regulatory milestone by obtaining a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). This license marks a pivotal advancement from the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) license granted in July 2023 and heralds a new phase of expanded operations for Binance in the region.

Enhanced Service Offerings in Dubai

With the new VASP license, Binance FZE is set to broaden its services within the retail market, adding more depth to its existing suite of offerings. Customers will now have access to an array of digital asset services including spot trading, margin trading, and staking. The focus for Binance will not only be on increasing the selection of tokens but also on enhancing the variety of exchange services available to users.

Alex Chehade, General Manager of Binance FZE, expressed enthusiasm about the license, stating, “This is a major milestone that validates our commitment to providing secure, compliant, and top-tier services to our users globally. It underlines Dubai’s position as a forward-thinking city, acknowledging and embracing the financial potential that blockchain technology brings.”

Binance’s Strategic Movements Amid Regulatory Challenges

The achievement in Dubai comes at a crucial time as Binance navigates complex regulatory waters in other regions, including India. Amid rumors of a potential return to the Indian market, it is reported that Binance is considering a $2 million fine settlement to reopen its services after being blacklisted along with eight other platforms in January for non-compliance with local regulations. The plan includes a reorganization of its South Asian operations and registration with India’s Financial Intelligence Unit, aiming to adhere to all relevant local laws, including those concerning tax and anti-money laundering.

In tandem with these regulatory maneuvers, Binance has also launched Megadrop, a new token platform designed to host airdrops and Web3 quests, which underscores its ongoing innovation and expansion in the digital asset space.
