Binance Seeks Brazil Crypto License as Deadline Nears, Delists 22 Tokens

Binance has applied for a cryptocurrency operating license in Brazil ahead of the country’s October 30 regulatory deadline. The exchange is also removing 22 digital assets and restricting eight services for Brazilian customers starting October 27.

The application marks a significant step in Binance’s efforts to comply with Brazil’s tightening cryptocurrency regulations. However, submitting the application does not guarantee approval, and the exchange must still satisfy the central bank’s licensing requirements.

Binance Restricts Trading and Crypto Services

Binance confirmed that Brazilian customers will lose access to trading in 22 cryptocurrencies, including USDe, TerraClassicUSD (USTC), Dusk, Verge (XVG), and MANTRA. Other affected assets include PIVX, Harmony (ONE), Zilliqa (ZIL), Ravencoin (RVN), and Secret (SCRT).

The exchange will also restrict Binance Loans, Binance Pool, Cloud Mining, margin trading, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops, and Alpha 2.0. Customers with existing positions can generally reduce or close them, but they cannot open new positions after the restrictions take effect.

Importantly, Binance says customers will retain access to their existing cryptocurrency balances. Users holding delisted tokens can withdraw their assets or move their funds into supported investments.

Brazil Tightens Cryptocurrency Licensing Rules

Brazil’s central bank has introduced a regulatory framework requiring cryptocurrency service providers to obtain authorization to operate domestically. The October 30 deadline represents an important milestone for exchanges seeking to maintain their presence in the Brazilian market.

To comply, Binance is transferring Brazilian customers to locally established entities responsible for cryptocurrency transactions and payment accounts. The exchange expects to complete the account migration by October 29.

Furthermore, new requirements for international cryptocurrency transfers will begin November 1. Customers must provide information about transaction purposes and counterparties, while Binance will report relevant transfers to the central bank.

License Approval Could Shape Binance’s Future in Brazil

Binance’s application allows the exchange to pursue continued operations under Brazil’s regulatory framework. However, the central bank has not yet granted the requested cryptocurrency service provider authorization.

The exchange could potentially restore some restricted services if regulatory discussions produce a compliant operating arrangement. Nevertheless, Binance has not announced a timeline or confirmed which products might return.

For Brazilian cryptocurrency investors, the immediate impact includes fewer trading options and tighter compliance requirements. The licensing process will determine how Binance adapts its business while maintaining access to one of Latin America’s major cryptocurrency markets.
