Binance.US Targets $100 Million Funding as Valuation Falls 78%

binance-us

Binance.US is reportedly seeking up to $100 million in private funding as the cryptocurrency exchange works to rebuild its American business. The company is targeting a valuation of approximately $1 billion, significantly below its previous funding benchmark.

Bloomberg reported on October 15, 2026, that the exchange is discussing the investment with potential backers. However, the fundraising remains under negotiation, and its final terms could change.

Binance.US Valuation Drops Nearly 78% From 2022

The proposed $1 billion valuation represents a substantial decline from Binance.US’s $4.5 billion pre-money valuation in 2022. During that earlier funding round, the exchange secured more than $200 million from investors.

The potential reduction highlights the challenges Binance.US has faced following regulatory disputes and declining market share. Nevertheless, the company is pursuing fresh capital to strengthen its competitive position in the United States.

Launched in 2019, Binance.US operates separately from the global Binance cryptocurrency exchange. However, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao maintains significant ownership interests in both businesses.

The exchange experienced major disruptions following regulatory enforcement actions involving Binance in 2023. These developments weakened its competitive position and complicated efforts to maintain normal banking and trading operations.

Expansion Plans Target U.S. Crypto Market

Binance.US is exploring several initiatives to support its recovery and attract additional customers. These include restoring state money-transmitter licenses, improving trading liquidity, and potentially entering prediction markets.

The exchange has also discussed obtaining liquidity from outside providers, including the global Binance platform. However, the company has not finalized any arrangement.

Meanwhile, Stephen Gregory, who became Binance.US CEO earlier in 2026, faces the challenge of rebuilding customer confidence. His leadership comes as cryptocurrency exchanges compete for market share through lower fees, expanded services, and improved trading infrastructure.

Trump-Linked Crypto Venture Not Participating

Bloomberg also reported that World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture co-founded by President Donald Trump and others, was informed about the fundraising discussions.

However, a person familiar with the situation indicated that World Liberty Financial is not participating in the proposed investment. Representatives of both companies declined to comment on the discussions.

The potential financing comes as cryptocurrency businesses pursue opportunities within the evolving U.S. regulatory environment. For Binance.US, securing fresh investment could support expansion efforts while testing investor confidence in its long-term recovery.
