Boerse Stuttgart Unveils Seturion: Europe’s First Blockchain Settlement Platform for Tokenized Assets

Published:

Boerse Stuttgart Group has officially launched Seturion, a blockchain-powered settlement system designed to streamline post-trade processes for tokenized assets across Europe. Announced on September 4, 2025, the platform positions itself as the first truly pan-European settlement infrastructure for digital assets.

A Pan-European Breakthrough

Seturion directly addresses one of Europe’s biggest challenges: fragmented national post-trade systems. By offering a unified settlement solution, the platform aims to lay the foundation for a more integrated European capital market.

Key features include:

  • Coverage across Europe, bridging existing national infrastructure gaps
  • Compatibility with both public and private blockchains
  • Settlement options in central bank money or on-chain cash
  • Flexibility for banks, brokers, trading venues, and tokenization platforms

Efficiency and Real-World Testing

Boerse Stuttgart claims Seturion can cut settlement costs by up to 90% while boosting speed, especially in cross-border transactions. The platform has already proven itself in European Central Bank trials held in 2024, where major banks participated in blockchain-based settlement tests. It is currently operational at BX Digital, a Swiss DLT trading venue regulated by FINMA.

Leadership, Licensing, and Strategic Impact

Seturion’s leadership team includes CEO Dr. Lidia Kurt and Chairman Lucas Bruggeman. A license application under the EU’s DLT Pilot Regime has been submitted to Germany’s regulator BaFin, signaling a critical step toward broader adoption.

This move reflects Boerse Stuttgart’s push to become a driving force in Europe’s digital transformation of capital markets. With Europe’s sixth-largest exchange operator leading the way, momentum around real-world asset tokenization continues to grow, supported by frameworks like the DLT Pilot Regime and upcoming EU capital market reforms.

Institutional interest is also rising quickly, with banks, exchanges, and tokenization platforms exploring tokenized bonds, equities, and funds. A successful rollout of Seturion could lower both technical and regulatory barriers, accelerating adoption across the continent.

Seturion marks a bold step in Europe’s post-trade evolution. Its modular design, regulatory focus, and efficiency gains make it a platform with the potential to reshape how tokenized assets are settled in Europe.
