Coinbase Expands Singapore Team as Asia Growth Strategy Accelerates

Published:

Coinbase is strengthening its presence in Singapore by planning to increase its local workforce to about 200 employees by the end of 2026, up from roughly 150 today. The hiring push comes alongside the opening of the company’s new office at One Raffles Quay, underscoring its long term commitment to one of Asia’s leading financial centers.

The expansion stands out because it follows a broader global restructuring announced earlier this year. While the company reduced headcount in other regions to improve efficiency and adapt to an AI driven operating model, executives say the Singapore investment reflects a separate strategic priority focused on long term regional growth.

Singapore Remains a Strategic Hub

Coinbase expects to add talent across several key functions, including:

  • Engineering
  • Customer service
  • Relationship management
  • Institutional sales

According to Singapore Country Director Hassan Ahmed, the city-state remains one of Coinbase’s fastest growing international markets. He said the company views Singapore as a trusted financial hub with a supportive regulatory environment, deep technology talent, and strong connections to the broader Asia Pacific market.

The new office is designed to support closer engagement with regulators, policymakers, and ecosystem partners while providing additional capacity to expand local operations.

Regional Growth Despite Global Restructuring

The hiring initiative comes after Coinbase announced a global workforce reduction of approximately 14% earlier in 2026 as part of a broader restructuring aimed at reducing costs and increasing the use of artificial intelligence across the organization. Company leadership has emphasized that the Singapore expansion is independent of those layoffs and reflects confidence in the region’s long term opportunities.

Executives believe growing interest in digital assets and stablecoins across Asia creates favorable conditions for continued investment. Singapore’s regulatory clarity, business friendly environment, and established financial ecosystem continue to attract major cryptocurrency firms seeking regional headquarters.

By expanding its workforce and establishing a larger office, Coinbase is positioning Singapore as a key operational and strategic base for serving institutional and retail customers across the Asia Pacific region.
