Ether.fi Enters Stablecoin Market With Ethena-Powered Dollar

Ether.fi

Ether.fi is moving deeper into the stablecoin market with a new U.S. dollar token built through Ethena’s Whitelabel platform. The move gives the crypto platform a branded dollar asset while targeting more than $300 million in stablecoin deposits already held across its ecosystem.

The companies announced the partnership on Oct. 6. The new token, called ether.fi USD, will use Ethena’s infrastructure for reserves, minting, redemptions and compliance. However, neither company has disclosed a launch date, supported blockchains or the assets that will back the stablecoin.

Native Dollar for Ether.fi Products

Ether.fi said the new stablecoin will make its existing dollar liquidity native across its products. The company has expanded beyond liquid staking into a broader crypto financial platform that includes savings, borrowing and spending services.

The $300 million figure refers to existing stablecoin deposits. It does not represent the new token’s circulating supply or guarantee that users will convert those balances into ether.fi USD.

Ethena’s Whitelabel model allows partners to issue branded stablecoins while Ethena provides much of the underlying infrastructure. Available backing options include USDe, USDtb and other approved stablecoins.

A Growing Stablecoin Strategy

The partnership adds ether.fi to a growing group of crypto platforms pursuing branded dollars. Ethena’s Whitelabel business already supports stablecoins associated with projects including Jupiter, MegaETH and Sui.

For ether.fi, the strategy could help capture more economics from balances that currently sit in third-party stablecoins. The company can also integrate the dollar directly into its financial products rather than relying entirely on external issuers.

Ether.fi’s Cash card business provides a major potential distribution channel. Ethena said the card has surpassed $1 billion in cumulative spending and has more than 100,000 active cards.

The key details remain unresolved. Ether.fi has yet to disclose the stablecoin’s reserve composition, ticker, contract address, launch date or whether holders will receive any yield. Those terms will determine how the new dollar competes with established stablecoins.
