Meme coin FLOKI has crossed the $1 billion market cap milestone after launching its first European exchange-traded product (ETP). The product, called Valour Floki SEK, began trading on Sweden’s Spotlight Stock Market, giving both institutional and retail investors regulated exposure to the asset. This marks only the second time a meme coin has secured such a listing in Europe.
The ETP was created by Valour, a subsidiary of DeFi Technologies, and is supported by roughly 16 billion FLOKI tokens from the project’s treasury to ensure liquidity. The listing sparked strong market activity, sending FLOKI’s price up by about 16.6% and briefly driving intraday gains as high as 31%. This surge attracted new attention from traders and traditional investors alike, pushing the token closer to the psychological level of $0.0001.
Strategic and Regulatory Significance
Analysts view the listing as a pivotal moment for meme tokens, bridging the gap between the playful culture of meme assets and the regulated world of traditional finance. Since the ETP removes the need for direct token custody, it could appeal to institutional players who have avoided meme coins due to volatility and custody concerns.
Plans for a listing on Switzerland’s SIX Exchange were previously outlined for early 2025, pending approval from the FLOKI DAO. However, the Swedish debut suggests that FLOKI’s team has accelerated the timeline, signaling growing momentum behind its integration into mainstream financial products.
Still, risks remain. Meme tokens are historically volatile, and with liquidity initially sourced from FLOKI’s treasury, stability could be tested if demand fails to sustain itself. Some analysts note that breaking above $0.00015 could spark another wave of buying, while falling short may erode investor confidence.
