Gate has announced a partnership with Visa to introduce a cryptocurrency-linked payment card across more than 40 countries and territories. The initiative aims to make digital assets more practical for everyday purchases by connecting users’ cryptocurrency holdings with Visa’s global payment network.

Announced on October 8, 2026, the planned rollout will allow eligible users to pay for goods and services online and in physical stores wherever Visa is accepted. The partnership represents another step toward integrating cryptocurrency into traditional financial services, giving users more ways to access and spend their digital assets.

The card will connect customers’ Gate accounts with real-world transactions, potentially simplifying how cryptocurrency holders use their funds beyond trading and investment activities.

How the Crypto-Linked Visa Card Will Work

Under the proposed system, the relevant cryptocurrency holdings in users’ Gate accounts will automatically convert into fiat currency when they make payments. This process will allow customers to use eligible digital assets for everyday expenses, including shopping, dining, travel, and other purchases.

Users will also be able to apply for and manage their cards through the Gate application. Integrating card management and payment services into the existing platform could make it easier for customers to access these features without relying on separate financial applications.

However, Gate has not disclosed the complete list of supported countries, eligibility requirements, supported assets, or service availability for the planned international rollout. Access will depend on the markets and conditions supported by the service.

The announcement also highlights the role of Visa’s established payment infrastructure in connecting digital assets with conventional commerce.

Crypto Cards Gain Momentum in Digital Payments

The partnership comes as payment providers increasingly explore ways to connect cryptocurrency and stablecoins with established financial networks.

Visa’s network spans more than 200 countries and territories, providing a broad foundation for payment services that connect digital assets with everyday transactions. According to the announcement, more than 160 stablecoin-linked Visa card programs are already operating worldwide, with payment volumes increasing nearly 200% year over year.

Gate, founded in 2013, says it serves more than 61 million users globally and supports trading across thousands of cryptocurrency assets. The company has also introduced Gate Money, an integrated financial services application that brings digital assets, fiat currencies, stocks, exchange-traded funds, banking services, and payments into one platform.

The new card initiative extends that strategy by connecting digital asset accounts with spending opportunities across international markets.

Although the announcement does not establish a definitive launch schedule for individual countries, the planned expansion could broaden access to crypto-linked payments. Its practical impact will depend on market availability, supported assets, applicable fees, and how easily eligible customers can use their digital holdings for everyday purchases.
