Justin Sun, a well-known cryptocurrency entrepreneur, has been elected as the Prime Minister of Liberland, a self-proclaimed micronation situated between Croatia and Serbia. Sun’s election took place during Liberland’s October 5 elections.
Key Figures Elected to Liberland’s Congress
Liberland, founded by Czech libertarian Vít Jedlička on April 13, 2015, announced that several notable figures joined Sun in being elected to its Congress. These include entrepreneur Evan Luthra, journalist Jillian Godsi, former Croatian politician Ivan Pernar, and IT professional Dorian Stern Vukotić.
Liberland’s Unique Electoral Process
According to Liberland’s spokespersons, the election was conducted using an algorithmic system designed to enhance transparency and eliminate doubts over election results. “The election process, governed by a simple set of rules, was entirely algorithmic, providing transparency,” the statement read. The micronation expressed its hope to set a precedent for other countries by embracing technology in their election processes. “We hope to be a pioneering example of what will soon become common practice,” they added.
Sun’s Vision for Liberland
As the new Prime Minister, Justin Sun aims to leverage his expertise in blockchain and digital assets to further Liberland’s development. Sun has expressed his intent to build an economic system based on cryptocurrency, promoting a decentralized, efficient, and transparent governance model. He believes this approach will attract entrepreneurs, innovators, and global citizens seeking an alternative to traditional nation-states.
