Under this collaboration, Amazon Payment Services will adopt Mastercard’s Gateway, a single touchpoint payment processing solution, across 40 markets. This move is expected to deliver faster, more secure transactions for merchants in the region.

Expanding Digital Payment Solutions

The partnership will enable thousands of merchants in key markets like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt to process payments more efficiently and securely. Mastercard’s payment solution will streamline transaction processes and create new opportunities for collaboration with entities such as telecommunications companies and governments. The solution will also help merchants benefit from seamless online payments, reducing the need for manual card and password entries.

Driving Payment Innovation

Along with a multi-year commercial agreement, Mastercard and Amazon Payment Services have signed an innovation deal to develop new checkout options and improve customer experiences. Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President of Market Development for EEMEA at Mastercard, highlighted how this partnership will help scale payment acceptance and push forward the digitization of payments in the region.

Peter George, Managing Director of Amazon Payment Services in the Middle East & North Africa, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that Mastercard Gateway will enable Amazon Payment Services to expand its reach as a payment service provider and reduce integration complexities by offering advanced technology that connects to all major global acquirers.

Mastercard Gateway: Simplifying Global Payments

Mastercard’s Gateway offers businesses a single connection point for accepting payments globally, making it easier for merchants to expand into new markets. The technology eliminates the need for cumbersome manual card and password entries, simplifying the checkout experience for online shoppers.

With this partnership, Mastercard and Amazon Payment Services are poised to shape the future of digital payments in the Middle East and Africa, offering more accessible, efficient, and secure transaction solutions to businesses and consumers alike.
