World Foundation has secured $52.5 million through a strategic sale of its WLD token, marking another significant funding milestone for the organization behind the World Network. The fundraising round was led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, Susquehanna Crypto, and several other institutional investors.
The capital raise comes as World shifts its focus from building its blockchain infrastructure to expanding the adoption of World ID, its digital identity platform designed to verify that users are human in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. To reinforce long-term commitment from investors, all WLD tokens sold in the transaction will remain locked for 12 months, preventing immediate resale.
Expanding World ID
According to the foundation, the newly raised funds will accelerate the rollout of World ID across enterprises, consumer applications, and AI-powered services. The organization believes that reliable proof-of-human technology is becoming increasingly important as AI-generated content, bots, and autonomous agents become more common online.
World ID enables users to verify their identity through a one-time Orb scan while preserving privacy through cryptographic techniques. The verification process creates a digital identity stored on the user’s device without revealing personal biometric information during everyday use.
The foundation has also been expanding enterprise integrations, with World ID being incorporated into services spanning productivity, authentication, communications, and consumer applications. At the same time, it recently introduced an updated version of the platform aimed at supporting enterprise-scale deployments and additional identity credentials built with zero-knowledge proofs.
Institutional Support Signals Confidence
Pantera Capital’s leadership of the funding round reflects continued institutional interest in blockchain-based digital identity infrastructure. The one-year lockup attached to the token sale also signals that participating investors are backing the project’s longer-term development rather than seeking short-term trading gains.
World Foundation emphasized that the WLD tokens sold do not represent equity ownership or rights to profits in Tools for Humanity, the for-profit company that develops the World ecosystem. Instead, the tokens are intended for use within the World Network itself.
The latest fundraising arrives as demand grows for technologies capable of distinguishing humans from AI systems, positioning World to expand its identity infrastructure as businesses increasingly seek trusted verification solutions.
