Robinhood Adds $25 Million in Bitcoin to Corporate Balance Sheet

Robinhood has added about $25 million worth of Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, marking the trading platform’s first disclosed purchase of BTC for its own books. The move places Robinhood among companies using Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset.

Crypto Commitment Takes Shape

Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, disclosed the purchase Wednesday. CoinDesk also reported the addition, confirming that the Bitcoin is held on Robinhood’s balance sheet rather than as customer assets.

Kerbrat said the purchase reflects Robinhood’s commitment to Bitcoin and the broader crypto ecosystem. However, he emphasized that the position remains modest compared with the company’s overall size.

Robinhood’s move comes as corporate Bitcoin ownership continues to expand. Strategy, one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders, recently purchased another 334 BTC for about $28.7 million. Its total holdings have now reached 848,000 BTC.

Part of a Broader Crypto Expansion

The Bitcoin purchase adds another element to Robinhood’s expanding digital asset strategy. The company has continued to develop products that connect traditional finance with blockchain-based markets.

Robinhood has also been preparing to offer perpetual futures to eligible U.S. customers. In addition, its Robinhood Chain public mainnet launched earlier this year, extending the company’s presence beyond its brokerage platform.

The company has reported 28 million funded accounts, including 27 million in the United States. Its crypto wallet also operates across more than 120 countries, according to Kerbrat.

For Robinhood, the Bitcoin purchase appears more significant as a strategic signal than as a material balance-sheet investment. The company is increasingly positioning crypto as a core part of its financial services business.

The move also highlights the growing divide between customer crypto custody and corporate treasury holdings. Robinhood already holds substantial digital assets on behalf of customers, but this purchase represents Bitcoin owned directly by the company.

As more financial firms expand into crypto, Robinhood’s decision gives investors another indication of how established financial platforms are incorporating Bitcoin into their long-term strategies.
