Strategy Adds 950 Bitcoin for $75.7 Million as Saylor Signals New Buy

Strategy has resumed its Bitcoin accumulation, purchasing 950 BTC for approximately $75.7 million as the cryptocurrency rallied toward levels not seen since January. The purchase marked the company’s first Bitcoin acquisition in about three weeks.

According to the company’s latest filing, Strategy bought the coins between September 14 and September 20 at an average price of $79,670 per Bitcoin. The company funded the transaction with cash already on its balance sheet rather than issuing additional shares.

Strategy’s Bitcoin Holdings Rise

The latest acquisition lifted Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC. The company has spent approximately $63.8 billion acquiring its Bitcoin holdings, with an average purchase price of $75,416 per coin, including fees and expenses. CoinDesk reported that the purchase followed a pause in Bitcoin buying that began in late August.

The company also continued managing its preferred-stock position during the week. Strategy repurchased approximately $174 million of STRC preferred shares, more than twice the amount it spent on Bitcoin.

The purchases came after Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted a Bitcoin acquisition tracker on social media, signaling that another purchase could be imminent. Saylor has used similar posts in the past to preview Strategy’s weekly Bitcoin disclosures.

Bitcoin Rally Provides Market Backdrop

The purchase arrived as Bitcoin staged a sharp rebound. Bloomberg reported that Bitcoin climbed above $84,800 on September 21, extending a recovery from the previous week’s lows. The cryptocurrency later traded above $87,000 during the session.

Strategy’s latest move also comes as the company continues to balance Bitcoin accumulation with its broader capital strategy. Its filing showed that it maintained substantial cash reserves while funding both the Bitcoin purchase and preferred-share repurchases.

With 846,000 BTC now on its balance sheet, Strategy remains one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin. The latest purchase reinforces the company’s continued focus on building its Bitcoin treasury while using existing cash to finance acquisitions.
