BitTorrent Burns 21.62 Trillion BTT Worth $7.6 Million, Unveils Web3 and AI Whitepaper

BitTorrent has completed its first quarterly token buyback and burn, permanently removing approximately 21.62 trillion BTT tokens valued at $7.6 million. The move accompanies a major brand upgrade and a new whitepaper outlining the project’s expansion into Web3 infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

The company also reported 587.9 million cumulative client installations and staking yields reaching 6.84% annually. These developments highlight BitTorrent’s efforts to connect its decentralized services with BTT token utility.

BitTorrent Completes $7.6 Million BTT Token Burn

On October 16, 2026, BitTorrent burned exactly 21,621,611,570,729.6 BTT tokens, valued at approximately $7,600,907. The company funded the repurchases using revenue generated by its decentralized services during the third quarter.

BitTorrent introduced its quarterly buyback program on July 6, committing 100% of decentralized business revenue to purchasing and burning BTT. The company plans to disclose future transactions and corresponding blockchain records through a dedicated dashboard.

The mechanism aims to reduce token supply while linking repurchases directly to business activity. However, lower circulating supply does not automatically translate into higher cryptocurrency prices, as market demand remains a critical factor.

New Whitepaper Targets Web3 and AI Infrastructure

Alongside the token burn, BitTorrent released an updated whitepaper describing its broader infrastructure strategy. The framework combines peer-to-peer content distribution, decentralized AI computing, and blockchain interoperability.

The architecture includes BitTorrent Mainnet for content sharing, BTTInferGrid for decentralized GPU computing, and BitTorrent Chain for cross-chain transactions. Together, these services aim to expand BTT’s role in payments, network incentives, staking, and governance.

BTTInferGrid represents a significant part of the company’s AI ambitions. The proposed network connects computing providers with developers seeking processing capacity for artificial intelligence applications.

BitTorrent Reports 587.9 Million Installations

BitTorrent’s October 12-18 weekly update recorded 587,928,383 cumulative client installations. However, the installation figure does not represent independently verified active users.

The company also reported annual percentage yields of up to 6.84% for BTT staking on BitTorrent Chain. Actual staking returns may fluctuate depending on network conditions and participation.

Looking ahead, BitTorrent’s strategy depends on converting infrastructure adoption into sustainable decentralized service revenue. Its quarterly burn program could provide a measurable connection between ecosystem activity and token supply reduction.

Investors will likely monitor future buyback disclosures, AI infrastructure development, and staking participation to assess whether the expanded business model creates lasting demand for BTT.
