Visa and crypto payments network Mesh have announced a strategic partnership that could make cryptocurrency spending easier for millions of consumers worldwide. The collaboration will allow users to spend crypto and stablecoin balances directly from participating digital wallets at more than 175 million Visa-accepting merchant locations.

Announced on October 19, 2026, the initiative aims to eliminate several barriers between digital assets and everyday purchases. Consumers will be able to make payments without manually converting cryptocurrency into traditional money or obtaining a separate crypto payment card.

How Visa and Mesh Will Enable Wallet-Based Payments

The partnership combines Visa’s global payment infrastructure with Mesh’s cryptocurrency payment technology. Together, the companies plan to support transactions across more than 200 countries and territories where Visa operates.

Mesh will manage transaction funding and conversion between cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and traditional currencies. Meanwhile, Visa will provide the payment infrastructure that connects participating digital wallets with merchants.

Users will be able to make contactless payments in physical stores or complete online purchases using their existing wallet balances. A Visa payment credential will operate behind the scenes, removing the need for a separate physical card.

Importantly, merchants will receive payments through their existing systems without installing additional hardware or changing checkout procedures. This approach could simplify cryptocurrency adoption for businesses that currently accept conventional Visa payments.

Stablecoin Adoption Gains Momentum

The announcement comes as major payment companies expand their involvement in blockchain technology and stablecoin transactions.

Visa processed approximately $14.2 trillion in payments during fiscal 2025, highlighting the scale of its global network. Connecting cryptocurrency wallets to that infrastructure could create additional opportunities for digital asset spending.

Mesh already works with more than 200 enterprises across its payment network. Its infrastructure connects cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges, and financial platforms, allowing businesses to integrate digital asset payment capabilities.

The partnership also reflects growing interest in stablecoins as practical payment instruments rather than assets used primarily for trading.

Rollout Details Remain Unconfirmed

Despite the announcement, Visa and Mesh have not disclosed a specific launch date or identified which digital wallets will initially support the service.

The companies plan to announce participating platforms, supported devices, and availability as implementation progresses.

The 175 million merchant figure represents Visa’s existing acceptance network, not locations where the new wallet payment feature is already operational.

If successfully deployed, the integration could reduce friction between cryptocurrency ownership and everyday commerce. However, its eventual impact will depend on wallet participation, geographic availability, transaction costs, and consumer adoption.
