MARA Transfers 1,000 Bitcoin Worth $82.8 Million as Selling Speculation Grows
MARA Holdings has transferred approximately $82.8 million worth of Bitcoin to major cryptocurrency exchanges, raising speculation about another potential sale. The activity comes as Bitcoin struggles to maintain momentum amid October’s volatile trading conditions.
Blockchain tracking data released on October 19, 2026, shows that wallets associated with the Bitcoin mining company deposited 1,000 BTC into Binance and Gate over five days. Although the transactions suggest possible selling activity, no completed sale has been confirmed.
MARA Records Second Major Bitcoin Transfer in October
The latest movement follows another substantial transaction earlier this month. On October 8, a MARA-linked wallet transferred approximately 996 BTC, valued at $81.13 million, to an address associated with Galaxy Digital.
Together, the two transactions involved nearly 2,000 BTC worth approximately $164 million. However, cryptocurrency transfers to exchanges do not necessarily indicate liquidation. Companies may also move digital assets for collateral management, trading arrangements, or custody purposes.
MARA has previously used its Bitcoin reserves to support financial operations and manage outstanding obligations. Consequently, investors are monitoring whether the latest exchange deposits reflect another adjustment to the company’s treasury strategy.
Bitcoin Mining Giant Continues Treasury Adjustments
MARA’s second-quarter financial disclosures showed that the company held 35,577 BTC at the end of June 2026. Of that amount, approximately 9,270 BTC was either loaned or pledged as collateral.
The company also sold 2,213 BTC during the quarter at an average price of $73,078. Earlier in March, MARA sold 15,133 BTC as part of a strategy to repurchase convertible debt and strengthen its financial position.
The latest 1,000 BTC transfer represents approximately 2.8% of MARA’s reported June Bitcoin holdings. While relatively small compared with its earlier transactions, the movement highlights the growing importance of active treasury management among publicly traded Bitcoin miners.
Bitcoin Price Faces Continued October Pressure
The exchange deposits emerged as Bitcoin recovered modestly during Monday’s trading session. BTC traded near $82,573, gaining approximately 1.07% over 24 hours despite broader market uncertainty.
However, Bitcoin remained approximately 1.18% below its price at the beginning of October. The cryptocurrency also traded substantially below its October 2025 record high of $126,080.
Large transfers from mining companies can attract investor attention because additional exchange supply may increase selling pressure. Nevertheless, the market impact depends on whether those deposits result in actual transactions.
For now, MARA’s latest Bitcoin movements remain unconfirmed as sales. Investors will likely examine the company’s upcoming financial disclosures for clearer evidence of changes to its cryptocurrency reserves.
