WisdomTree and MoonPay Broaden U.S. Access to Tokenized Money Market Funds

WisdomTree and MoonPay are expanding access to tokenized investment products in the United States through a new strategic collaboration focused on WisdomTree’s Treasury Money Market Digital Fund, WTGXX.

The companies announced the partnership on September 17, saying WisdomTree is developing an access point that will use MoonPay’s technology and platform. The initiative aims to give eligible U.S. investors another way to access WTGXX through infrastructure designed to connect traditional financial assets with digital assets.

The partnership also links tokenized funds with stablecoin infrastructure. MoonPay plans to use WTGXX as part of its stablecoin reserve management strategy.

Expanding the Tokenized Fund Market

WTGXX is a tokenized money market mutual fund designed to seek a $1 share price. WisdomTree currently distributes the fund through its broker-dealer, WisdomTree Securities, but the MoonPay collaboration could extend its reach to individual investors through a broader digital-asset network.

MoonPay says its platform has more than 35 million accounts and serves more than 1,700 enterprise partners. The planned integration could therefore connect a regulated money market product with a large existing digital-asset user base.

The companies said eligible investors will eventually be able to use stablecoins to invest in WTGXX once the planned platform becomes operational.

The broader tokenization push comes as financial firms increasingly explore blockchain-based versions of traditional assets. Tokenized funds can combine conventional investment products with blockchain-based settlement and transfer infrastructure.

A Broader Digital Finance Strategy

WisdomTree and MoonPay described the collaboration as the foundation for a wider relationship. Future initiatives could include additional tokenized funds and opportunities in international markets.

The announcement also arrives as U.S. regulators increase their focus on tokenized securities. Recent regulatory developments have created additional pathways for blockchain-based financial products while emphasizing traditional investor protections.

However, the companies have not announced a specific launch date for the new access point. MoonPay also will not act as a broker-dealer or investment adviser for WTGXX.

The collaboration highlights an emerging intersection between tokenized investment funds, stablecoins and digital payment infrastructure. It also shows how asset managers and fintech firms are seeking to bring regulated financial products closer to users of blockchain-based financial services.
